A New Way to Use Stilts!

To diversify and develop the sporting side of stilt-walking, the folk group Les Hérons des Lacs from Biscarrosse came up with the idea of combining traditional stilts with track and field athletics.

In 2013, the very first Athléchasse Meeting took place at the Ducom Stadium in Biscarrosse.
The event is held every other year, co-organized with the Fédération des Groupes Folkloriques Landais.

Inspired by iconic Olympic sports, participants strap on their traditional Landes stilts and take part in athletic events such as hurdles, javelin throw, hammer throw, relay races, and more.

A competition over a meter off the ground, balancing on two wooden poles!

By blending sport and tradition, this unique activity offers fun, excitement, and a completely new kind of thrill.
