About

Originating from the Amicale des Groupes Folkloriques Landais, founded in 1968, the Fédération des Groupes Folkloriques Landais (FGFL) currently brings together 14 traditional dance groups from the Landes region.

The FGFL’s mission is to promote Landes folklore, enhance its image, and support local groups in developing, preserving, promoting, performing, and evolving their shows.

To achieve this, the Federation encourages connections between the groups, allowing them to share ideas and practices in many areas such as choreography, teaching methods, and equipment.

The FGFL also organizes training sessions — both in-house and with outside experts — for members of the affiliated groups. These include workshops in ground dancing, stilt dancing, music, singing, and stilt racing, as well as training for traditional dance instructors and group leaders in administrative matters.

But the FGFL is not just about dance. It also hosts sporting events like stilt races, summer speed contests, and the Gymkana.
